SAD DAY for the world

It’s a sad day today, as our home state of Massachusetts, sees the senate seat that was held for nearly half a century by Edward Kennedy, taken over by a Republican who apparently has some inhumane sounding beliefs, according to today’s New York Times article entitled G.O.P. Senate Victory Stuns Democrats ….

…. Scott Brown supports waterboarding as an interrogation technique for terrorism suspects, opposes a federal cap-and-trade program to reduce carbon emissions and opposes a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants unless they leave the country. It was a sharp swing of the pendulum, but even Democratic voters said they wanted the Obama administration to change direction……

And he opposes the Health Bill, of course!

To make matters worse, the new senator shares my family name (Carole “the Van driver” Brown – aargh!!!).

WORDS ESCAPE ME.

  1. It’s a inevitable back-lash after one year of Democratic Presidency. I would not worry too much – the battle may have been lost but the war ain’t over yet :0) xxxxx

  2. Coakley lost because she assumed she would win–this state has sent Democrats to the Senate for decades and this was “Ted Kennedy’s seat.” She ran a lackluster campaign and got no help from the men she defeated in the primary. The Democratic Party, divided and corrupt, sat on its hands. Brown won because the Republican Party poured big money into a campaign of misinformation, outright lies, and appeals to ignorant people’s fears. All the issues were improperly framed–by both parties. Brown had the looks of a soap-opera actor. He’s in for only two years, but the Democrats will have to work hard and pull together to salvage the seat in 2012. As one politically savvy friend of mine put it, the Democratic Party has done what it does best: snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
